Every fall NASA organizes International Observe the Moon Night (IOMN) to encourage as many people as possible to all look up at the moon on the same Saturday evening. This year IOMN came a little early, on September 14th. The Smolen Observatory at SUNY New Paltz was open for visitors, with help from the Mid-Hudson Astronomoical Association. I set up a raspberry pi camera which takes a picture every 5 seconds, so that later I could string them together into a time-lapse history of the event. The result is posted to YouTube:
