Pedagogy Workshop & Discussion with Rachel Rigolino: What is “substantive interaction in online learning” and why does it matter?, Thurs. March 4, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., with SUNY Online Ambassador, Rachel Rigolino

Rachel Rigolino

Substantive interaction has become a catchphrase to describe best practices in online pedagogy. What does the term mean, and why are colleges so focused on promoting it? This presentation will provide both a brief overview of the term in the context of the history of distance education as well as specific examples of substantive interaction in the online classroom.  There will be plenty of time to ask questions and share your own experiences, challenges and successes teaching online.
