This year the Disability Studies Series curated by Dr. April Coughlin (Teaching & Learning), welcomes Dior Vargas, a mental health activist with over ten years of experience in advocacy. Her talk is entitled, Pain, Promise, Persistence: A Latina’s Journey with Mental Health. Born and raised in New York City, Vargas is the editor of The Color of My Mind and received the White House Champion of Change for Disability Advocacy Across Generations Award under the Obama Administration. She earned a BA in the Study of Women and Gender from Smith College and an MPH from New York University.
