This talk begins with a critical, in-real-time snapshot of education technology integration in a machine-learning context in New York State and around the country. Textured by educators’ stories of daily work in the classroom, this presentation offers both practical and theoretical perspectives on policies and practices that have led to the rapid adoption of proprietary technologies in P-20 education. Considering what we’ve learned about education technology in the last few years, the talk concludes with recommendations for teaching—and remaining relevant—in these increasingly digital times.
