Towards a Civic Discourse: Insights and Conversations Across Disciplines

The SUNY Civic Education and Engagement and Civil Discourse Fellows invite you to explore the meaning of civic discourse and its roles across a range of disciplines as part of a virtual panel titled “Towards a Civic Discourse: Insights and Conversations Across Disciplines.” This panel will take place on December 3rd at noon.

Presenters with expertise in the arts, STEM, vocational training, student-focused activities, and the history of protest and civic engagement will share different ways civic discourse could work in a variety of disciplines. They will address these key questions:

  1. What is civic discourse?
  2. How can civic discourse be incorporated into the classroom and into co-curricular settings?
  3. How can civic discourse be used to effect transformative change in institutional structures?

The panel presentations will be used to inspire a Q&A discussion on multidisciplinary approaches to civic discourse. The Civic Fellows will also provide additional resources to support faculty, staff, administration, and students as they explore civic discourse. To register, visit the CPD site.
