Phonics Game (due 3/3)

You will create a phonics game, using the guidelines in the Phonics Game Planning Guide. After having the opportunity to play a series of phonics games in class, you will be expected to design your own.

Your game:

  • must be appropriate for K-2 learners
  • must be tied to a specific CCSS
  • should have a clearly defined objective
  • use handmade materials (you may also use, as appropriate, supplementary non-handmade materials such as dice, Scrabble or Bananagrams tiles, etc.); however, it must be clear that you put effort and thought into creating the game on your own
  • can be influenced by a game you found online or in your fieldwork classroom; however, there must be elements of originality and must attribute any adaptations appropriately (see sample).

Be sure to consult the sample available. When you write up your summary, use the Phonics Game Planning Guide and be sure to include a photograph (see sample).

You will turn in your actual game to be graded. You are encouraged to play it in your fieldwork classroom.
