Are you passionate about the performing arts and eager to gain hands-on experience in the world of public relations? If so, The Hudson Valley International Festival of the Voice is offering an exciting internship opportunity that combines your love for the arts with the dynamic field of PR. As a Public Relations Intern in the performing arts, you will have the chance to work alongside our talented, innovative, community minded and efficient team and contribute to the success of our upcoming productions celebrating our 15th anniversary but also the success of our social entrepreneurship new initiatives (we are launching a program for victims of human trafficking).
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management: Assist in creating and curating engaging content for our social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. Develop and implement a content calendar to ensure regular, relevant posts. Monitor and engage with our online community to build and maintain a strong online presence.
Content Creation: Write and edit press releases, blog posts, and promotional materials to share exciting news and updates about our productions. Create visually appealing graphics and videos to support our online content.
Media Outreach: Research and maintain a list of relevant media contacts, including journalists, bloggers, and influencers. Assist in developing and sending press releases and pitches to these contacts. Help coordinate interviews, reviews, and features in print and online publications.
Event Support: Provide on-site support during performances, press events, and other promotional activities. Assist in coordinating media coverage, interacting with journalists, and ensuring a positive experience for attendees.
Audience Engagement: Help manage email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and subscription lists to keep our audience informed and engaged. Help develop our online audience Monitor feedback, comments, and inquiries from the community and respond appropriately.
Analytics and Reporting: Track the performance of our PR efforts and social media campaigns using analytics tools. Prepare regular reports to assess the impact of our strategies and suggest improvements.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Arts Management) or have recently graduated.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Creative thinking and an eye for detail in content creation.
Familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to create engaging content.
Basic graphic design and video editing skills.
Enthusiasm for the performing arts and a desire to promote cultural experiences. Opera knowledge a plus.
Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media management tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Buffer, WordPress).
Knowledge of PR and marketing principles is a plus.
