The Emma Bowen Foundation (EBF) promotes a more diverse industry by recruiting promising students of color like you and placing them in multi-year PAID internships at some of the nation’s leading media and tech companies, such as Comcast NBCUniversal, Discovery, Hearst Television, the New York Times, the NFL, Spectrum, and ViacomCBS. Whether you’re interested in being a producer, a journalist, a web developer, an engineer, a business executive, a PR agent, a sales representative, or any other career in media or tech, the EBF Internship is here to help you get your start.

You are eligible to apply for an EBF Summer Internship if you meet ALL of the following:

  • Are a student of color (Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Multi-Racial)
  • Are a high school senior OR an undergraduate college student (undergraduates graduating in Spring 2024 are eligible to apply)
  • Plan to attend or are currently a student at a four-year accredited U.S. college or university (This includes students who will transfer to a four-year accredited U.S. college or university in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024.)
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0
  • Are interested in pursuing a career in media, entertainment, and tech
  • Are able to commit to a summer internship that will last at minimum 8 continuous weeks and which could be longer as required by the company’s internship duration. The internship is full-time and students work from 35-40 hours per week as determined by the partner company. (Note: Internships generally start in May or June. The internship start and end dates are determined by the partner company.)
  • Are a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
  • Must be 18 years of age prior to the start of the internship

Dow Jones News Fund Internship Applications are Open!

The Dow Jones News Fund invites college students to apply for paid summer internships in audience engagement, business reporting, data journalism, digital media and multiplatform editing. The application deadline is Nov. 16.

The News Fund will select college journalists for internships with more than 70 newsrooms across the country. Those selected will also benefit from week-long, pre-internship training, $1,500 scholarships, memberships to journalism groups and access to the DJNF alumni network for jobs and mentoring.

Social Media Intern Needed for Local Market

Harana Market, a local business, is seeking a Social Media Intern.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, journalism, communications, hospitality, or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Creative and irreverent thinking with an ability to generate engaging content ideas to create content
  • Knowledge of current social media trends and best practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Basic understanding of SEO and online marketing concepts and the desire to continue learning new techniques
  • Proficient in using social media platforms and tools, including scheduling and analytics tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong passion for and/or knowledge of hospitality, food service, and community-based mutual aid food programs

Responsibilities include:  

  • brainstorm and create engaging and on-brand content
  • develop our content calendar/schedule to ensure consistent and timely posting across platforms
  • Monitor and engage with our social media audience by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Brainstorm and suggest social media strategies to increase brand awareness, reach, and engagement
  • Analyze analytics to gauge the success of
  • Collaborate with owners to align social media content with overall marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all social media
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging social media trends and platforms, and propose innovative ideas to enhance our social media presence to reach new audiences

The Sojourner Truth Library is seeking an unpaid social media intern for Spring 2023. A background in PR/marketing/media is encouraged as well as a basic knowledge of graphic design and photography.

Internship Opportunities with Hudson Valley Performing Arts Laboratory

Hudson Valley Performing Arts Laboratory is seeking interns to assist with their programs. HVPAL is a 6-year-old Dutchess County based arts organization serving the Hudson Valley by giving the community opportunities to PERFORM in devised productions and new works, LEARN about their crafts in low to no cost workshops, and ENGAGE with the local performing arts community via events and resource sharing activities.

HVPAL is seeking students interested in theater production, digital content creation, marketing and promotion, and live event production support. 

The internship will span from Jan. 23rd to May 8th. It will be mostly remote work with some event work around Ulster and Dutchess county, for approximately 8 hours per week. Interns will be paid a $200 stipend.

Interested in working in the Podcast industry? (un)maidenly podcast seeking Editing/Production intern for paid Spring 2023 internship !

The (un)maidenly podcast is looking for a Spring 2023 intern to help edit and produce their weekly podcast. Interns will be paid and can expect to work 8 hours a week (120 hours total). All work will be done remotely and interns will be given access to the equipment and software needed to produce the podcast. On top of editing and production, interns will help with some marketing tasks – familiarity with Canva is a must !
