Join Media & Journalism Students in the Media Society; General Interest Meeting this Thursday, Sept. 15th

The Department of Digital Media and Journalism is excited to announce the revamp of its student club, the Media Society! The Media Society runs under the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) umbrella.

The Media Society will be hosting a general interest meeting this Thursday, September 15th, at 5pm in CSB 54

For several years, New Paltz’s Media Society was the original sect of the BEA. The BEA is a hybrid-academic/professional organization that specializes in peer-review of student and faculty work, networking opportunities, and whose annual conference runs in tandem with the National Association of Broadcasters, each April in Las Vegas.

The Media Society took a break during Covid, but now they’re back !

The club hosts the annual BEA Student Film 48, a 48-hour film festival that SUNY students have excelled at during past competitions, the annual BEA Student Audio 48, a 48-hour audio competition, and hosts local alumni panels and its annual media day each spring.

The Media Society is looking for an e-board composed of upperclassmen, as well as membership from freshman and sophomores.

If you’re interested in joining the club, or running for an e-board position, contact Professor Gregory Bray at baryg@newpaltz.edu

Hope to see you at the general interest meeting September 15th!
