Paid Audio Project for American Soundscapes with Jim Metzner

The American Soundscapes Project has a mission to “crowd-source some of our country’s most memorable sounds” and is looking for help to do so.

Students interested would be working directly and immediately with Jim Metzner, from Pulse of the Planet podcast on public radio, to finish work on hand. This work would take an estimated 10-15 hours and the student would be compensated $15/hour. Audio editing experience on ProTools (specifically on a Mac) is important as well as interest in the project at hand. Field recording of sound is another vital skill to have. A car/transportation is also needed to go to Metzner’s home studio 25 minutes from New Paltz. This project will begin this semester.

For Spring semester, more work is needed beginning in January. Some of the work would include finding new ways to disseminate existing recordings. The project would include working on Final Cut Pro, so a working knowledge of that software (Mac based) would be most helpful, along with qualifications listed above.

You can learn about American Soundscapes here and you can send an audio sample/portfolio and resume to Jim Metzner at pulse@igc.org.
