Tammy Kim, this year’s James H. Ottaway Sr. Visiting Professor of Journalism, is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in the New Yorker, the Columbia Journalism of Review and New York Review of Books. She is also a contributing opinion writer at the New York Times.

Kim, a former attorney, specializes in labor issues and rights; she is Tammy Kim headshotcreator of the Time to Say Goodbye podcast and co-author/-editor of the book Punk Ethnography.

This semester, Kim is  teaching a course called ‘Writing Globalized Labor.’ President Donald P. Christian hosted a Q&A with Kim covering topics about her career, the labor market and the journalism field. Students and the community were also able to ask questions.
