Firelight is two separate organizations with one mission: to support communities of color in front of and behind the camera. Firelight Media, a non-profit artist support organization, is the premier destination for non-fiction cinema by and about communities of color. Firelight Media produces documentary films, supports filmmakers of color, and cultivates audiences for their work. Firelight Media’s key programs include the Documentary Lab, the Groundwork Regional Lab, and the William Greaves Fund. Internship Program:

It is Firelight’s mission to mentor interns and give them the skills and experience to be the next generation of film, media, and arts administration professionals. Their internship program will give dedicated and driven participants the opportunity to assist the Firelight Media and Firelight Films teams with a variety of projects depending on their area of interest. Opportunities include the production and development of documentary film projects; graphic design and social video production; fundraising and arts administration, and more. Interns will be assigned to specific departments with specific assignments and will be expected to complete short- and long-term projects under the direct supervision of our dedicated staff. Public Relations Assistant [REMOTE] Job Description:

D. Pagan Communications is a full-service technology public relations agency specializing in the broadcast, pro audio, installation, music and recording, and video production industries. They tell the stories of how their clients’ products/solutions work behind the scenes through written collateral, strong media relations and a virtual trade show presence. They’re looking to add a versatile Public Relations Assistant to their team who is enthusiastic about the areas in which they specialize in and staying ahead of evolving technologies.

MUST HAVE (or be working toward):

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field; strong writing and media relations skills, and an interest in technology (B2B) fields. Digital marketing, content development, social media marketing and previous agency setting experience is a plus. This job requires working remotely with a personal computer set-up and reliable internet, as well as familiarity with a range of platforms, including Zoom.

This professional will be primarily responsible for assisting senior team members with day-to-day account tasks, such as:

  • General administrative tasks
  • Creation and distribution of press materials and other related collateral
  • Media placement monitoring and logging
  • Transcription of end-user interviews
  • Blogging and social media support
  • Research new markets

You are eligible to apply for an EBF Summer Internship if you meet ALL of the following:

  • Are a student of color (Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Multi-Racial)
  • Are a high school senior OR an undergraduate college student (undergraduates graduating in Spring 2024 are eligible to apply)
  • Plan to attend or are currently a student at a four-year accredited U.S. college or university (This includes students who will transfer to a four-year accredited U.S. college or university in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024.)
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0
  • Are interested in pursuing a career in media, entertainment, and tech
  • Are able to commit to a summer internship that will last at minimum 8 continuous weeks and which could be longer as required by the company’s internship duration. The internship is full-time and students work from 35-40 hours per week as determined by the partner company. (Note: Internships generally start in May or June. The internship start and end dates are determined by the partner company.)
  • Are a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
  • Must be 18 years of age prior to the start of the internship
