Tech Internship Available at Rosendale Theatre: It would help if the candidate was proficient with computers, but that is a given for the most part. It is essential that the candidate be able to understand how equipment is connected together and where to look when there is a problem. All of this is teachable, but having a firm understanding of technology and concepts would help.
We are a movie theater that also shows live events and plays. The movies are close to automated and don’t require much help, but the live events and plays all require varying degrees of technical help. We have live bands that require help running cables and connecting equipment and sound checking before shows. We have plays with technical rehearsals that require assistance with wireless microphones, lighting, sound and video cues, etc. We have presentations that require a podium and microphone, with slides that the presenter controls with a remote. We have panels of presenters that sit around a table and all talk independently with wired microphones.
We have 2 video cameras and a switcher that we use to live stream and record live events and performances. Currently, the high quality recordings are just being stored, but eventually we will need help categorizing and editing all of the footage. We also need help operating the cameras and switcher during live events.
Our mixer is 32 channels, and when we have live events we can record those events as separate discrete channels. Those recordings then need to be processed and downmixed into surround or stereo that can be edited together with the video recordings of events for better sound.
This internship would give an intern experience with analog audio, digital audio, projection, video, recording, video and sound editing, stage and set design, and general operation of a movie theatre. There are also many other areas of opportunity for learning and discovery.
