Chronogram Media is seeking editorial interns for 2 days per week (6 credits). For their internship, they require at least 2 days (16 hours) a week of work. The internship can be a mix of onsite work in Kingston and remote. The internship is unsalaried.
What they offer
Chronogram Media offers opportunities for interns to develop writing and editing skills and to write numerous articles for Chronogram, Chronogram.com, and other Chronogram Media print and digital publications. Interns also learn how to use various digital tools for publishing: content-management systems, email newsletter campaigns, and social media creation. Interns advance at their own pace.
What they’re looking for
They are looking for self-motivated people with strong research, fact-checking, and writing skills, but prior journalistic experience is not required. Some familiarity with the Hudson Valley is helpful. Please send three writing samples, preferably published clips.
What they expect
Although the focus for all interns is on editing and writing, they do have some administrative responsibilities. These include occasional transcription, typing, or data entry tasks.
Intern duties
Editorial interns will work with the editor and be assigned work within the framework of the following duties: manuscript evaluation, fact checking, proofreading, copy editing, research, and website updating, digital data management. The main focus of the internship will be on writing, for both print and digital platforms.
