All equipment borrowed must be returned to CSB25 at the designated time and day entered on the sign in and sign out form. Equipment borrowing sign in and out is from 10:30am – 4:00pm and 4:30pm – 6:00pm all weekdays. Items must be returned at least by 12:00 PM on the third academic day after sign out. Whoever signs out department equipment is responsible for its return, and must be the one returning it. Rental is by reservation only.

If equipment is not returned to CSB25 on time, the student and the student’s professor will be emailed about the lateness. After reasonable attempts to recover late equipment have failed, the student’s borrowing privileges will be suspended. If even after the suspension, the student fails to return overdue equipment, an Academic Hold will be placed on the student’s account. An academic hold means that the student will not be able to register for classes and will not receive grades until the hold is released. There is also a late fee system in effect that states a fee of $2 per day per item will be charged for any equipment rented out past the designated return day. Students may be fined up to $800 for lost/damaged equipment. You will not be able to register for classes, get transcripts, or receive your grades until the fine is paid. The late fee system also acts as a hold on your academic account.

Signing out department equipment is restricted to Media Production and Journalism students and is limited to the particular course the student is enrolled in. Do not borrow department equipment for personal endeavors unless cleared by a Media Production faculty member. Media Production students may not borrow department equipment with the intent of lending it to non-Media Production majors. Students are not permitted to have guests in the editing suites and will be held liable in such cases.
