Discovering a Dedicated Wordsworth Fan

IMG_2796

In this book, published in 1908, I could immediately tell that the previous owner was very passionate about the works he/she was reading. Even in just the table of contents, we can immediately see his/her fascination with the works he/she was about to read or even re-read. I found myself wondering if the work underlined was his/her favorite, or if the check marks next to certain works meant something significant to him/her. IMG_2793

In thumbing through some of my own personal favorite Wordworth works, I found descriptive marginalia left by whomever else had enjoyed the romantic poems of Wordworth. IMG_2790The writing in this book shows that the person who had previously owned/read this book was very interested in deciphering the true meanings of the writings. IMG_2791Sometimes Wordsworths’ sonnets can be difficult to interpret, but the previous owner shows his dedication in trying to understand what he was reading. IMG_2792The stains in the book also show how invested the person mustve been in what he was reading. IMG_2794I am a huge Wordsworth fan myself, and being able to find interesting book traces in a book that I was interested in reading myself was very exciting. Though the marginalia didnt directly tell me anything about the previous owner, it reminded me alot of myself and the way i read. No matter what i am reading, i am constantly using the margins to clarify what I am reading, even if occasionally i may be wrong. This assignment also excited me with the thought that maybe someday my notes in a book may become something to marvel at.

Copies of video games sold after American release date

So this is the research I did,  I chose t do it on my favorite video game sequels and group them by the developer and the amount of copies  sold in the firs month after their American release date.  I had so much trouble with this project that I will not be using this site ever again. and in the future we should spend a little  more time explaining how to use the software  before we are thrown into the fray.

Wordle- A Case of Identity

Honestly speaking, I was confused as to how Wordle worked. I didn’t know if I had to relate the color and style of my font to my text, or just create an aesthetic appeal that would simply be pretty to look at. So many questions popped up in my head. What text should I use? Should I use all of the text? Would using all of the words give the viewers a specific aspect to ponder upon?  I was relieved to see that many of my classmates had posted before me, so I could get a feel as to what to write about and how to start this assignment.

I decided that my wordle should be a flagrant representation of what my text was about, and highlight keywords as effectively as possible. I thought this would be more useful rather than trying to get my text to look like it belonged to certain “theme”. Wordle.net was a easy tool that methodically aided me in understanding the key words and topics in the text that I imported. The words that were visualized as the largest words are “Holmes”, “Hosmer”, “father”, “mother”, “interest”, “Angel”, and “woman”. These words are primary and highly crucial to the story and gives the audience a broad concept and understanding of what A Case of Identity  is really about. “Holmes” is obviously significiant in the story  as he solves the mystery, as Hosmer is the name of the fake lover. I utilized the option to discard all of the common names, however, “Mr.” was included in one of the most appeared words.

Overall, the aesthetic effect was my favorite part to edit, as I added a black background with bright and slightly highlighted words. The color aspect contains cool and serene colors and are easy to the eye. Wordle.net is a methodically fun and handy website that I will probably use to comprehend a numerous amount of written and eligible works!
