What Is Qigong?

Slow movement.   Rhythmic breathing.   Mindful intention.

Qigong (chi kung) is an ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that naturally heals the body, balances the emotions, sharpens the mind, and raises consciousness. Qigong means “energy cultivation” and is a holistic wellness system that blends Posture, Breathing, Meditation, Visualization, Movement, and Self-massage to maintain vibrant health.

In terms of physical benefits, taking qigong classes builds strength and stamina, improves balance and coordination, increases flexibility and vitality, and stimulates the immune system.

In terms in inner benefits, qigong triggers the relaxation response, reduces stress, releases anxiety and negativity, instills inner peace, focuses the mind, and lifts the spirits.

Practiced by millions of people around the world every day, qigong is most often depicted in public parks in the mornings. Sometimes casually referred to as Chinese yoga or easy tai chi, qigong an active yet easygoing way to improve health and well-being. It’s gentle and accessible to all levels of physical and emotional ability.
