Where freak looking freaky white rodents are running around
Spreading new kinds of venereal diseases
Talking about “we love everybody”
“We love everybody”

To connect race to space, as well as, privilege and perspective the song New York, New York relates to the chapter Space Matters. The song talks about New York and the differences between a Black person to a white one. It talks about the privilege of white people, also mentioned in the article, the space they take up using their privilege as if it does not exist. In the song, the struggles faced by a Black person in America is expressed and in the article the issue of space and how a Black individual is limited in that space is also addressed. “We love everybody” from the song “New York, New York” is referring to white people talking about “all people”, meanwhile, in the very beginning of Forman’s chapter a white woman clearly saw the Black man’s struggle of getting a taxi. She pointed it out, yet failed to practice loving “everybody” because she got into the cab that stopped for her, leaving the man to continue struggling. Black people do not have as much privilege as Whites do, given the image, even “that talk” is different. lack parents have to teach their kids the dangers of being black in America, while white parents give “the talk” about safe sex… Forman and The Last Poets, do a wonderful job at portray white privilege in means of space very well.
