Just like class sessions, tutoring sessions have a clearly-structured beginning, middle and end. Of course, tutors do not make lesson plans in the same way that instructors do. However, there is a typical “flow” to a tutoring session. The directions below provide a template to use with one-on-one (individual) tutoring sessions:

Begin your interactions with students with an open mind, and the willingness to understand how each student is unique. Every student has their own set of experiences, educational backgrounds, and varying factors that contribute to the way they think, act, learn and understand new information.
