Having Trouble Finding an Internship?

Are you a DMJ and/or Communication major struggling to find an internship? Well, looks like you’re not alone. Lucky for you, there are many internship opportunities out there, available at the click of a button. You just have to know where to look.

  1. The Big List

The best place to look for an internship, as a SUNY New Paltz student, is The BIG LIST of past Student Internships for DMJ and CMM: tinyurl.com/npbiglist. ‘The Big List’ is an organized spreadsheet of past internships completed by SUNY New Paltz DMJ/CMM students! This is a great resource because not only does it give you a wide variety of internships to choose from, it also gives you a point of contact/reference from a New Paltz student.

  1. The DMJ News Blog

To find internships on the blog, all you have to do is toggle your cursor over the “Internships” tab until the grey letters turn blue. Then click, and there are all the current internship opportunities listed. This page gets updated every week, so make sure to keep an eye on it!

2. The Internship Instagram

Along with the blog, the internship Instagram is updated regularly with internship opportunities and resources. Follow @npcommedia, https://www.instagram.com/npcommedia/?hl=en

3. LinkedIn and Facebook Alumni Groups

These pages provide great resources for current students and alumni to interact and list opportunities for internships (and sometimes even jobs!) with a point of contact/reference.

4. Handshake

You can find this on my.newpaltz.edu under the “Employment Resources” tab (anywhere that says “Hawkhire” is now Handshake).

5. Mediabistro

A great website with internship and job listings in all types of media and creative fields!

As you can see, there’s no need to stress about finding an internship, for there are a myriad of sources at your disposal to help you search. For more information, check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P22Epg1O0yE! Happy internship hunting!
