Dear [Student],

Congratulations! You’ve been approved to earn internship credits. Please read and save this email for important instructions on registration and next steps.

Important Notes:

  • Internship registration is separate from course registration. You must find a placement, get approval, and request an override (see details below).

Finding an Internship:

  • Follow us on Instagram for opportunities.
  • Check out our DMJ/CMM Blogs for internship listings.
  • Use “The Big List” of past internships and contacts (Tinyurl.com/npbiglist).
  • Explore Handshake on my.newpaltz.edu under “Employment Resources.”

Featured Internship: Legislative Gazette

  • Intern at the state capitol in Albany! Scholarships are available for qualified students.
  • Learn more and contact Prof. James Gormley at gormleyj@newpaltz.edu for details.

Next Steps:

  1. Once You Find a Placement:
  2. Internship Credits:
    • 1 credit = 40 hours of work. Choose how many credits you wish to earn before you register (credits can’t be changed once the semester begins).
  3. Internship Agreement:
    • Download and have your supervisor sign the Internship Agreement Form. Submit it on Brightspace by the first week of classes.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. You’ve already completed the first step—take it one step at a time, and you’ll do great!

Good luck and congratulations again!

Best regards,

Nancy M. Heiz
Internship Coordinator
