Kiersten has been an educator for the past twenty-two years. They have held teaching positions in New York State at the elementary and high school levels, served as a literacy coach in an elementary school, and now teaches full-time in an educator preparation program.

She is now an Associate Professor of Literacy at the State University of New York at New Paltz and serves as the Department Chair in the Department of Teaching & Learning. Kiersten teaches literacy methods courses to pre- and in-service elementary school teachers, and offers professional learning experiences on topics ranging from antiracism to technology integration. Each of their courses are grounded in an antiracist framework and set against a digital pedagogy backdrop Students learn how to build websites, develop digital storytelling skills, and deepen their knowledge of digital citizenship and building teaching and learning experiences for an equitable society.
