The Foreman Murray reading is really interesting because it talks about race and classes in America. “Hip-Hop has evolved into North America’s most influential youth-oriented forces provides sustained articulation of the social partitioning of race and the diverse experiences of being young black, latino in the United States.”.(3) Looking into this quote it is quite accurate to even what is happening today. People will always express themselves through any kind of entertainment. Hip-hop is a big influence because it is what people listen to even today. The Last Poets are about the same thing as the Foreman’s reading. The Last Poets said themselves that what they are doing is a movement. They express what they do in poetry. “We wanted our liberation and we wanted our people to be free.”. (2:34) Even something as small as that can definitely influence something big. The last poets wanted their poetry to mean something and it is very important to them. They do it through a creative aspect so at the same time they do it through entertainment. They did urban slang with African-American rhythms and drums. They are impacting the young people. Comparing both the reading and the video they want to influence something really important and that must have been politics. “These stories or narratives present more than an imaginary locus that is visited in the mind- they introduce spatial sensibilities and cues that are continually enacted throughout our social lives.”. (16). I took this quote from the Forman reading because I feel it is quite important because sometimes it is good to spread the news on something important. It can be anything that can affect the lives of people. They tell these stories through this type of entertainment of what they have been through, it can be through anything art, music,dance, etc.
