Attention Film & Video Studies minors! Courses that count towards your minor are not limited to the courses shown on your progress report. You can find more courses simply by searching keywords on the Fall 2025 Schedule of Classes.
An example of keywords you could search include “Film” and “Cinema.” You can also browse through the Art History courses, as many Art History classes can also count towards your minor.
Some examples of classes that count towards the Film & Video Studies minor that are usually not displayed in progress reports include: SOC432: Sociology of Film, POL334: Film and Politics, and ARH393: Film Aesthetics and Theory. Sometimes the History Department teaches HIS330 Staging China, and occasionally we see FRN475 French Cinema, both of which also count toward FVS! **It’s important to search the schedule of classes and read the pre-requisites and restrictions — if you don’t have the pre-req course(s), or the permission of instructor, you may be denied access to the course.
