Applications for Documentary Outreach 2026 Now Open!

Actuality Abroad is offering four week travel courses to teach students about the production of short film documentaries through the Documentary Outreach Program. 2026’s abroad programs will offer travel to Kochi, India and Santa Cruz La Laguna, Guatemala. There, students can learn documentary storytelling alongside like-minded, impact-driven filmmakers. Earn real life experience collaborating with local experts, leaders, and changemakers to help share their amazing stories. You will return home an accomplished filmmaker, with a story to share within your community, festivals, and the world!

Both trips will consist of four weeks during which research, planning and preparation, production, and editing will take place. Winter session in India will take place from January 10 – February 8, 2026 with a cost to participate of $4,250. Summer session in Guatemala will take place from July 11 – August 9, 2026 with a cost to participate of $4,750 (not including round trip airfare, visa, meals, and travel insurance for either).

To aid with costs, the Citizen Storytelling Scholarship is available, providing $2,000 to those who become part of the Documentary Research Project.
