If you don’t already know, there is a Mac computer lab (the DSC lab) in the back right corner of the Sojourner Truth Library, where students from all majors can use Adobe creative suite apps, plus Pro Tools on select computers. There is also a roundtable recording setup, soundproof voice-over booth, and field recording kits that can be rented from the front desk.
This semester the library has dropped most of its direct support for the lab, but they’re keeping it open for anyone who wants to use it during library hours. Additionally, our department has hired Sean Gloeckner for 4 hours a week to assist anyone who wants to use the recording gear. Otherwise, that gear is restricted to students who have taken Podcasting or who otherwise know how to use it.
Students are encouraged to use the DSC lab whenever a space to edit is needed. If anyone wants to record in the VO booth or at the roundtable, please come during Sean’s hours, which are Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30pm and Thursdays from 1:00-3:00pm.
