The Center for Student Media would like to showcase a new student media club Hawk Studios. Hawk Studios is a media production club at SUNY New Paltz that’s like no other club on campus. Hawk Studios acts as a production company catered to all students at New Paltz. We help you create and pitch your idea, figure out what you need and make it happen.
Hawk Studios was established in 2019 from the junction of two former media clubs; WNPC-TV and Video Production Club. Today, the function of Hawk Studios is to provide the SUNY New Paltz community and beyond with informative and entertaining programming. HAWK Studios allows students to learn about broadcast television, film production, and administration fundamentals. Divisions include Development, Production, and Marketing with departments covering Art, Camera, Sound, Scripting and Producing.
Our main project right now is our late night variety style show What the Hawk?! We meet every Wednesday at 7 p.m. and either film pre-production skits, or the main production of What the Hawk?! The show is filled with sketches, on-the-street segments, games/activities with the hosts of the show, interviews, and more.
Some other programs made by Hawk Studios are Going Live which is a Tiny Desk Concert inspired series; The Grass is Always Greener, a satirical short film inspired by Curb Your Enthusiasm, and more.
The club offers production, post-production, development, and marketing workshops for each project and for the club as a whole. If writing, filming, editing, marketing, or anything else is your jam, we do it all.
If you are interested in joining Hawk Studios we meet every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the TV Studio on the fourth floor of the SUB. Anyone is welcome to join no matter what year or major you are. We look forward to seeing you soon!
