Making summer plans? Please review your Plan of Study!

If you are already looking forward to summer (and who isn’t this week), please take note of the following:

EED752 Theoretical Foundations of Reading and Writing (“Theoretical”) will be completely online and will run May 22nd – July 19th .

EED759 Workshop in Action Research for Literacy Leaders (“Action Research”) will be completely online and will run May 22nd – June 29th.

EED757/758 Clinical Practices in Literacy (“Clinic”) will occur Mon. – Thurs., July 8th – August 2nd. You will take either the AM session (8:30-11:30) OR the PM session (1:30-4:30).  Attendance at all clinic sessions is required as this course contributes to the practicum hours required by NYS for Literacy Specialist certification.

Literacy Apply Now Event was a Big Success!

Thank you to all current grads and alumni for making this semester’s Apply Now event such a wonderful success.  We are grateful to everyone who participated; we couldn’t do it without you!  🙂

We will hold another event in the spring term.  If you’re interested in supporting the program (and in getting some free swag, classroom supplies, and food) keep an eye out for the announcement of the event and call for volunteers.

IMPT: Were you admitted pending teaching certification or GRE scores?

If you were admitted to the Literacy program pending NYS Teaching Certification you MUST submit proof of your NYS Teaching Certification to have your Literacy M.S.Ed. conferred. Please send proof of your certification to Records & Registration as soon as you receive it from the state to be sure your graduation is not delayed!

If you are currently taking graduate classes and were admitted to the Literacy program pending GRE scores and you haven’t already submitted these scores, you MUST do so no later than the first day of the Spring 19 semester (January 22nd)!  Candidates starting courses in Spring 19, if you haven’t already submitted your GRE scores, these must be submitted no later than the mid-point of the Spring 19 semester (March 12th). (Please see Literacy Program Guidelines posted on the website.)  GRE scores should be submitted to the Office of Graduate and Extended Learning.
