Dean’s Student Advisory Council Invitation

Please see the below invitation from Interim Dean Isabelle:

Dear Students,

The Dean’s Office in the School of Education is pleased to announce the creation of a School of Ed (SOE) “Dean’s Student Advisory Council.” I would like to form a council of diverse students from our undergraduate programs in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and Adolescence Education and our graduate programs to provide advice and feedback to me concerning matters including School-wide initiatives and events, coursework/field experiences, and other relevant issues of interest. Students who volunteer should be interested in collaborating with other students to provide the Dean with feedback about their experiences in the School and enhance the sense of community and belonging in the SOE. This group should be committed to working together to make the School better by having their voices heard. The Advisory Council will meet remotely once a month starting in the spring 23 semester at an agreed upon meeting time and membership will be reassessed at the beginning of each fall semester.

If you are interested in being part of this council, please complete the Student Interest Form by Friday, November 11:

I hope you will consider this unique opportunity. As Interim Dean, I encourage your involvement in the School and value your thinking.

Prof. Aaron Isabelle

Interim Dean and Professor, School of Education

Certification

As a reminder, you can find information on certification at the “Certification Questions?” link on our website (under the Advising tab in the menu).

At the “Certifications Questions?” link, you’ll find step-by-step instructions on how to apply for certification, as well as a link to the NYSTCE study materials for the CST.

If you are graduating next year, you should be receiving (if you haven’t already) an invitation for an FAQ session with our Certification Advisor, Chris Whitaker. If you are unable to attend or have individual questions about your certification pathway, check out this link on the New Paltz website which includes information on how to make an appointment with Chris.

Join Our LED Faculty Candidate Student & Alumni Sessions! March 28, 30 & 31

Greetings Candidates!

We are excited to have the opportunity to invite a new Literacy Education faculty member to our team in Fall 2022! We have three candidates joining us next week on Monday (March 28), Wednesday (March 30), and Thursday (March 31).

We have set up a time on each of those dates for students and alumni to drop into a virtual session to meet our candidates! If you are available between 4:30 and 5:00pm on any of the above dates, please sign up to join our candidates virtually and we’ll be sure to send you the zoom link (which is also linked on the sign-up doc).

Each session will include only the candidate and any students and/or alumni who join. Faculty will sit these sessions out, as we feel it is important for you to have a chance to ask the candidates questions and share your experiences without any filter of any kind.

Thank you in advance for volunteering for this important work!

Here is a link to the sign-up doc.
