USE OF FACILITY TRAINED DOGS IN THE COURTROOM AND IN TRAUMA-INFORMED TREATMENT

Changes are needed in the legal system to avoid retraumitization of child witnesses/victims when testifying in family and criminal courts.  In this presentation, participants will learn about:

         Trauma Sensitive Courtrooms 

           Rosie goess to Court — the historic case of an 11-year old Golden                 Retriever named Rosie accompanying an adolescent victim to court             when she testified regarding sexua assault

           The use of Facility Dogs in Trauma-Informed Treatment and in                      Attachment-Based Group Work with mothers and their babies 

       A Professional Dog Trainer will explain the training of Facility Dogs and        will do a demonstration with at least one dog who has finished the two        year training program
