Malcolm Zimmerman, Visual Arts Major
Interviewed by Ashley Eglit, Visual Arts Major
Malcolm came to New Paltz from Connecticut to pursue art. He is particularly interested in 3D and Audio/Video art forms; creating psychedelic collages using media that inspires him. This has become his own personal way of journaling. The digital media he collects are used abstractly to create stories and to document his life. Malcolm is passionate about his abstract and unique construction of music; the number of sample sounds used can range from 20-50 sources. While he claims his work flow is “sporadic,” he is dedicated to any current projects.
Part of Malcolm’s creative journey stems from visiting museums in his childhood. During these developmental years, his mother frequently brought him to NYC art museums, such as the MOMA. He hopes to one day gain experience in curatorial work for a museum.
