Jangir Qayum, Photography BFA
Interviewed by Lucas Martinez, Visual Arts Major
At just 22, Jangir has endured significant challenges that have shaped him into the exceptional person he is today. His life’s trials have sculpted him into someone truly remarkable. Hearing his story made me reflect deeply on how our unique experiences define us, and I couldn’t help but admire him.
One of the most powerful elements of Jangir’s journey is his experience with loss. Facing the death of a loved one has given him a profound understanding of life and mortality. Coming from a devout Muslim family, Jangir’s upbringing resonates with me, even though my own background is rooted in Christianity and Catholicism. My family, too, has emphasized the importance of faith, creating a parallel in our lives despite our different beliefs.
In America, Jangir has crafted his own path, integrating his heritage with his personal beliefs and aspirations. I was particularly struck by his passion for photographing music events and artists. This ambition reflects his unique blend of personal experience and creative vision, making his story all the more compelling.
