Gia Leigh, Visual Arts Major
Interviewed by Orphenus Burger, Visual Arts Education and Photography BFA and Madeline Marchant, Visual Arts Major
Orphenus:
Gia talked about how one of the most pivotal moments in her childhood was when her grandma died. She talked about how it was hard for her because she was really close to her grandmother. When I was listening, I found myself wanting to ask questions, but I stopped myself because I wanted to just listen to her unfiltered. When I was photographing her, I took a few photos, and I tried to get one where she wasn’t perfectly posed because I find that photos that aren’t entirely posed show you a lot more about the person then a posed photo.
Madeline:
Gia and I spoke to each other about our aspirations, our struggles from when we were younger and our current struggles we may face today in adulthood. Gia shared how she struggled with losing her grandmother and learning to find the good things to remember her by in everyday life. Gia also wants to be a successful artist and see where that takes her.
