Dear Matt, Bryan, Nick, and Charlee–
In class we raised concerns RE the “Resource Review” assignment (I provided a model in class). We were concerned that the curriculum resources available on the “Letters to the Next President” site may not have material directly related to teaching science and math. Here are some additional sites with resources you can review:
One source for curriculum with strong writing component is the Literacy Design Collaborative (ldc.org) which had modules (and also mini-tasks within modules). YOU PROBABLY NEED TO JOIN THE CORETOOLS WHICH IS FREE. The curriculum is in their “coretools.” Below is a link using the filters for science and math curriculum that was considered “exemplary.”
https://coretools.ldc.org/curriculumLibrary?discipline_ids=1,19&ldc_rating_codes=EXEMPLARY&order=created_at-desc II used the filters for science and math curriculum that was considered “exemplary.” )
https://coretools.ldc.org/mods/cb192e8e-ce82-4a98-b314-b1f900fb834b This link critiques an argument using math.
Additional resources for Math can be found in NCTM “task library” materials. I focused on the one’s requiring reasoning & sense-making
Additional resources for Science can be found in NSTA Classroom resources (you can change the filters. This one is high school eco-systems).
Email me back if you have trouble. Have a good weekend!
