We started class writing into the day reflecting on our writing assignment handout and instructional sequence. After some self-reflection we discussed where we were at with the assignment with a small group. The rest of the class was dedicated to “beautifying the assignment.” We worked with our assigned partner to access peer comments and bounce ideas off of one another. As we worked in groups, Professor Sawyer met with those of us who signed up individually to gauge where we were at. Those of us who met with her early on could leave class, and the rest of us stayed to work while we waited. I was the last one in the room with Professor Sawyer and although no one was there, she ended class by saying, “I am extremely excited for this next generation of teachers.”
