For a long time leading into college I was stressed about the idea of not having a recognizable style, but there is something about seeing some of your work together as a whole that allows an ability to see the big picture. I really enjoy trying new materials in art making and often like to cross between those different mediums. I also tend to stick to similar themes and I find nature and anatomy to be very inspiring in my work. When looking at other artists, I gravitate to surrealism, modern and contemporary art; which I think is something that shows through in many of my pieces. I didn’t show much of my earlier work, but I did experiment more with abstract art for a moment. I am still quite drawn to more of a realism and an impressionistic approach, but I enjoy finding space where I can combine all of those qualities. More recently, which again I didn’t show, I have been in progress of experimenting with embroidery and also combining drawing with fabrics.

Woah. That flower is gorgeous. Just the details are immaculate, and I love the chalky whispy-ness of the clouds in the back. I also really like the one with the cereal bowl. I know the pill bottle adds a seemingly darker element to it, but the cereal just looks so well rendered that it just makes me smile and chuckle.

Ash, your work with Oil Paint is so well done! I specifically enjoy the COVID Vaccine painting as it potrays an ominous, looming feeling. The cermanic boot piece is so realistic, I thought it was a real shoe!

Hi Ash! I love how all your work is so different from one another. They span from light concept such as the sunflower, to people wanting to be unvaccinated. I really love the triptych that you created with the pills going down the intestinal tract. The plant vase with the tea cup face is adorable, and I love that you incorporated, and that you put in an actual earring. Its great to make art that is also functional! Great job with all of your work!

Ash- Your work is incredible! Especially the mixed media, but your paintings and drawings are REALLY strong. The ink wash of the apple core is captivating me. Something about the delicate line quality.. and the gray scale.. it’s like haunting and beautiful all at once. Keep pushing all these ideas!

Hey ash!! I love how deep your work is, that’s something I can never really find in my own work, so seeing it in others is such an inspiration. Especially with the topics as heavy as you have used. You’re work is great!!

Hi Ash!! That first sentence you wrote really resonated with me, I felt the same way until I saw all my artwork together as well. I love the variety in the mediums you choose and also the subject matter. Some things are so desperately needed to be talked about, but rarely do because it is uncomfortable or there aren’t the right words. I think you did a really great job in using art as a form of communication on a topic that needs to be addressed more. I’m also really interested in surrealism so I really enjoyed looking at all of your art. Beautiful work!!!!!

AMAZING WORK! Love your ink drawing especially the way you incorporated the ink splotches-it adds so much to the drawing. I also love your monochrome painting the dull colors came out so well in this piece.
