We have a program volunteer initiative that the Association rolled out a couple of years ago, and we are looking for a variety of volunteer roles to be filled in Programs and Services. Volunteers are required to go through an interview, an online training process, have a background check, and sign a confidentiality agreement. They are assigned a staff mentor with whom they can shadow programs and events. These volunteers will help expand our reach into the Hudson Valley seven-county communities by providing educational programs. Community Educators are asked to commit to 12 programs per year when they are fully trained.
For more information, here’s the direct link to the Program Volunteer Portal which includes role descriptions and requirements: volunteer.alz.org  We encourage younger individuals to look into becoming a program volunteer.
In addition, there are opportunities to be part of our fundraising event committees:  Walk to End Alzheimer’s  and The Longest Day (https://www.alz.org/hudsonvalley/volunteer?set=1) and advocacy volunteers (https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/advocate).
It would be great to have SUNY students help the Chapter and Association in bringing awareness and education to communities and through helping with fundraising and advocacy work.
