What Is New Paltz Design Lab?

New Paltz Design Lab is a 3-credit course in the Graphic Design Program at SUNY New Paltz that connects students with on campus and community-based clients. Upper-level students receive guidance and feedback from a design faculty member while working on outcomes such as branding, web design, user experience design, social media and publication design. New Paltz Design Lab services are offered pro-bono for campus departments and select community groups and non-profits. Clients are expected to meet regularly with student designers and offer constructive feedback on their work while maintaining realistic and attainable deadlines. Run as a professional studio, class meetings focus on project management, client communication, meeting deadlines, peer critique, print and digital production, and project assessment.
