Mohonk Preserve Webinar on Recreation and Rock Climbing in Wilderness
On December 5, 2024, I will give a webinar for Mohonk Preserve entitled Using, Enjoying, and Protecting the Wild in Wilderness: Anchors and Approaches. The presentation and discussion will tie into a subsequent event focusing on the EXPLORE Act, a bill being considered by the US Congress that includes language that will affect rock-climbing and other recreation activities in designated Wilderness. I gave the Spencer Mass Memorial Lecture as part of the EVOS seminar series on February 5, 2024 at SUNY New Paltz. The theme of the series this spring was wilderness, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the US Wilderness Act of 1964.
