Introduction / About Me!
My name is Noelle Salzarulo, and I am a senior here at SUNY New Paltz. I am a History major with minors in Ancient Studies and Art History. I love learning about the art and social culture of past civilizations, and I particularly enjoy learning about ancient Greece and Rome. I also enjoy learning about local history, including the Romanticism movement which occurred in the Hudson Valley during the 19th century. I am graduating at the end of this semester, so I definitely wanted to participate in the History department’s internship program before graduating and heading out into the “real world” (yikes!). I am currently an intern at Locust Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie, New York. I am transcribing the diaries of Annette Innis Young, who was the last owner of the home before it was turned into a historic site. So far, my experience at Locust Grove has given me skills in historical research and archival work, and I hope to either work in a museum or on a historic site after I graduate! My dream history job would be to work on an ancient site/museum in Rome or Pompeii in Italy. On a local level, it would be awesome to work with the Historic Hudson Valley (based in lower Westchester, neighboring my hometown) and do tours in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery or in Washington Irving’s home!
