As previously mentioned on my personal blog, I had some problems with my printer this week but the pictures ended up looking pretty cool. However, because of this it was also a challenge for me in painting over them- the image of the place was already “distorted”, looking unlike  what it originally looked like so I struggled a bit with adding additional marks over it. I would also be curious to try these pictures again more correctly and see the difference in the two sets.

  1. Lindsay,
A great photographer, Hardie Truesdale just had a show at Mark Gruber Gallery, New Paltz titled ” Natures Patterns”. Although it ended 11/19, you should really check out some of his work- they remind me of the stillness and tranquility I am seeing in your current works ( the ones where the copier had malfunctioned!)

  2. Looking at your previous post of the original images, I think they look great being all messed up in the printer. I think it adds another dimension and makes it surreal looking. Then once you go in and add the paint on top it gives it a completely different feeling. I feel like these images are connected to your emotion response paintings. I think it would be really impactful in a show to display the original photograph next to the altered photograph and then put one of your emotional response paintings next to that. It seems like everything circles back to your job and it can show a really interesting, insight, progression and story.
