AI Inquiry Group: Lunch Meeting with Visiting AI Scholars; Tues., Nov 18, 11:30am-1pm

Join the AI Inquiry Group in the Faculty Development Center (College Hall 113) on Tuesday, November 18th, 11:30am-1pm, for a special lunch session! The session will feature international visiting scholars who will share perspectives on artificial intelligence from Nigeria’s rapidly evolving higher education and research sectors.
Visiting Faculty from SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Nigeria:
  • Dr. Taliha Folorunso, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria — A National Universities Commission (NUC)–sponsored visiting scholar with a background in electrical and computer engineering. Dr. Folorunso specializes in control systems and precision agriculture, focusing on how AI and control techniques can help small and medium-scale farmers improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Dr. Adebayo Adegboyega, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) — A faculty member and Research Associate at ACETEL, specializing in full-stack data science. His current work involves AI-enabled course advising and major-selection systems designed for NOUN’s 100,000 online students.
    Dr. Folorunso and Dr. Adegboyega are visiting scholars at SUNY Polytechnic Institute (Utica, NY).
  • Dr. Steven Schneider, Assistant Provost, SUNY Polytechnic Institute — A SUNY AI Fellow and guest participant in this session. Dr. Schneider actively fosters interdisciplinary dialogue on AI and welcomes opportunities to engage with faculty at SUNY New Paltz.
