AI Information Literacy Without AI; Wed., Nov 19, 12:30-2:00 at the FDC

by

Do you have questions about the inclusion of AI in the revised GE Information Literacy competency? If so, join Jackie George, Chair of the GE Board, on Wednesday, November 19th, from 12:30-2:00 pm in College Hall 113 for a moderated discussion of the revised competency! Faculty who choose not to utilize AI in their teaching and scholarship are invited to gather and talk about how we discuss this decision with our students. This event is intended to help faculty think through how to implement SUNY’s newly revised Information Literacy competency into their General Education courses, but all are welcome.
Questions we will consider include: Why have we refused to incorporate AI into our teaching and learning? Are there publications that we have found useful in instructing students about the origins and development of AI technologies, including large language models like ChatGPT? How do we define “information literacy” in our disciplines, and how do we wish to render the implementation of this revised competency into a teachable moment?
