This panel will explore reasons some faculty members might not want to encourage or allow students to use AI to complete particular types of assignments while considering what gets lost in learning and original thinking when they do. Professor Nancy Johnson, Associate Dean of LA&S will discuss the current landscape in terms of AI and academic integrity. Professor Mary Holland (English) will share tips on detecting AI use in student papers and exams, ways of encouraging students to do work without using AI, and particular problems of preventing AI use in fully online courses.
