Dear Donald Christian:

Hello, my name is Ashley Vasquez. I am writing this letter to address the issues pertaining not having access to Hyflex Learning at SUNY New Paltz. I am currently a student at SUNY New Paltz and would be interested in applying Hyflex Learning into the learning environment. Many students at New Paltz struggle on a daily basis to do their school work as a result of not being granted the ability to work in an environment that makes them feel comfortable. The Hyflex Learning route could enable students to perform better and improve their mental health.

As a student at SUNY New Paltz, it has been difficult not having Hyflex Learning available. When managing several classes I often become stressed and pressured by going to classes in person or online. I learn at a different pace and at times the speed of a class makes it harder to stay on track. Also, it takes a toll on one’s mental health when not having the option that works best for them to participate to their fullest potential. Students often can’t focus and their performance in courses goes down.

The issues of the learning environment at New Paltz should be addressed as it places a learning block on students ability to learn. Students learn at a different pace and the learning environment in place hinders a student’s ability to learn properly in a way they can understand.  If Hyflex Learning isn’t implemented students mental health will not improve and their performance in courses will rapidly decrease. Hyflex learning is a valuable asset to the learning environment at New Paltz, and without it students will have a hard time grasping the material of the courses.

By applying Hyflex Learning at New Paltz students will be able to gain more flexibility in their courses. Students will have the ability to choose courses that fit their pace. There will be more time granted to students to do their coursework. It will give students the option to do a class in person, synchronously, and or asynchronously. Students will be able to balance the demands placed on by their personal and academic lives.

I hope that Hyflex Learning can become implemented into SUNY New Paltz’s learning environment. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and it would be a pleasure to discuss this further. Feel free to contact me at 456-678-9980 if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ashley Vasquez
