It was a bit of a learning curve trying to use photoshop since I have barely ever used it, except to maybe brighten a photo. At first, it seemed like a lot of buttons and I had no idea what to press, but once I was able to get some time to ask some questions, I felt more comfortable. I learned how to use basic functions of photoshop, which was nice. It was most challenging to remember all of the key strokes, but once I began to catch on and remember them, it became smoother. Using my own work made more of a connection to the work and made it more interesting. It was fun to try the different functions of photoshop since I didn’t really know what the outcomes would be. This activity connected to my prior knowledge of art and art education because I have used photoshop minimally, but it’s important to understand at least the basics of photoshop. When I was in school, I took photography, but we only did a little bit of photo editing on photoshop and no real projects focusing on the use of photoshop. It would be good if high schools could offer more digital classes so that students would be able to work more with editing programs, like photoshop. This activity connected to my understanding of design thinking because we were using innovative ways to create gifs. Design thinking focuses one innovative ways to solve problems, and we were all coming up with unique and different solutions to make each gif.
