Since making the laser cut lanterns for class I’ve been incredibly excited to use the
Digital Fabrication Lab more! It’s been great reacquainting myself with Adobe Illustrator and learning more about the laser cutting process. Like anything, the more projects I try, materials I use, and the more often I practice these skills, the better and more unique my art becomes. Every time I go into the lab Connor has a suggestion for my work that allows me to think about the logistics of laser cutting in a more wholistic and practical way. I’m really looking forward to doing more with the laser cutter next semester
and discovering new ways to improve and challenge myself. Since the lantern project I’ve made a portrait of my friend holding her two nieces, another portrait of me and my boyfriend singing, and a set of coasters of all the places my brother has lived.

I love how creative you’ve gotten with the laser cutter! You’ve taken your art out of the computer and made these really beautiful pieces and it is super inspiring. You mentioned that you will be doing more work with the laser cutter next semester and I would love to see what you create!
