VINYL CUTTER

The lab is equipped with a Roland GX 24 Vinyl Cutter. It has a cut width of 22.9″ with both roll and sheet options. This cuts primarily adhesive backed vinyl for decals, lettering, and stencils which can be applied via transfer paper to a number of different surfaces. Once your file has been cut, there is a secondary process called Weeding: removing either the negative or positive space from the image you cut, depending on the design. This is a process best done in the lab where we have the proper tools to do it, so it is best to leave some time for this process.

FILE TYPES ACCEPTED BY THE MACHINE: ai ( Adobe Illustrator). You can bring any vector graphic into Illustrator: dxf, dwg, and certain pdfs, but the cutter will only accept an Adobe Illustrator file.

Below is a document which has a few helpful hints for setting up files for the vinyl cutter.
