Blog Entry #1:
Art and Family during Quarantine
How I have been entertaining myself.
With the knowledge of staying home for the rest of the semester, and having to stay inside for the majority of my time home, I decided to redo my room. Not only did I, with the help of my family, move things around, but I took apart my entire bed frame so my bed would be directly on the floor(with the box spring mattress under it on the floor). I envisioned my room looking bigger if I had no bed frame, and if my bed was moved to the corner. So, we did that, and it looked fantastic! Along with moving my bed, we moved around my furniture to fit the space the best. Then, I redecorated my walls with photos, pages from books, art pieces, and art directly onto my wall! I put some cool lights up as well. Now, I feel much happier to be in my room because it is much more aesthetically pleasing to look at.
This is one of the things I painted on my wall. I asked a friend to send me a picture of her eye so I could paint it on my wall, so I did! I personally dislike the lashes, because they are too big since I could not find a smaller brush. The good thing about liking art and being inside means I can explore my artsiness and apply it in my room! I love art, and currently I am waiting to hear back from the art program to see if I got in. Decorating my room with different things is so fun, but painting directly on the wall feels different, ~cooler~. Fun fact: I love drawing eyes.
In addition to creating art for fun, I still have art projects due for my studio art class. I am in the basic level class because it fills my GE for art. Anyway, disciplining myself at home to do homework in general including art homework is a little tough, but because of the CoronaVirus, I have to. Art homework is more fun in my opinion, and this project took me 14 hours to do. I could have taken much less time and effort into it, but what else is there to do, really? I took my time to do art and I did it all by myself with no teacher interaction:) I am in the basic level class because it fills my GE for art, but I try and do the best I can to impress my professor and myself because I want to improve my art to the best I can.
Along with keeping myself busy with art, I have been spending time with my family, because those are the only people I get to see, basically. Honestly, the quality time is nice, because my normal life at home consists of work and friends and sometimes family. I especially enjoy hanging out with my sisters, because I have a little baby sister. Fun fact: I picked out her name and guessed the day she was born. We play inside and outside, and we go for walks. Connecting with my family more every day makes me happy, and seeing my little sister frequently is super special.
In addition to entertaining myself with art and hanging out with the family, I enjoy watching Netflix and youtube. Having all the time in the world to catch up on shows, meaning binge watching, is great. I mainly watch criminal minds. Since being home I have watched a few seasons and am on the last season, season 12, that is on Netflix. Quarantine gives us all the time in the world to figure out ways to entertain ourselves. Honestly though, as the show goes on, for the most part, it is getting boring. I have a feeling shows like this will make episodes about the Coronavirus, and movies will definitely be made about it.

Coronavirus Update
Live Data.
-worldometers of CoronaVirus-
The first image is a screenshot of active CoronaVirus data in the early afternoon today.
Next to it is an image I just screen shotted, so around 7:30 pm on the same day.
The data in these images presented tells me the total cases recorded in in the world and the total deaths of that day. It shows me active cases, meaning cases where people are still sick with no outcome yet, and closed cases, meaning cases where there was an outcome from someone being sick. The active cases are broken up into people with mild conditions vs people with critical conditions. The charts show how many cases or deaths there have been/are on a linear scale. The closed cases are who who have recovered, or who have died, but the chart on this side only shows the deaths.
I’m most focused on the numbers, because they are the biggest thing on the screen, like focal points.
I think the data is presented in the best way it could have been presented. It documents how many are sick, in what condition they are in, who makes it and who does not. Then it shows the charts of the increase to have a better visual of how fast the disease spreads, and because of that how many deaths result. The layout is the best way to scare people, with the number of cases screaming at you and the obvious visual representation of how fast it spreads.
The way it’s presented is a great way to understand not only the numbers, but the terribleness of the disease.
More people have it then have died, which I guess is a better thing than having those numbers closer together.
This website tells me about a third of closed cases are deaths. It’s scary. It’s a virus that spreads like wildfire. I still see people hanging with friends or not taking necessary precautions. These people are the ones making this worse and are pushing the quarantine further.
The rest of the website shows specifics in each country, America being the top. Living in the epicenter of the crisis, New York, is scary and unreal.
cases in US – CDC
I found another website that gives a good visual of cases in the US. The darker the color, the more cases there are. It makes sense which states are more infected, at least of what is documented. This source is credible because CDC is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and at the bottom of the page, is says :
