About me & my eFolio
Hello viewer,
This is me! I’m on facetime with a friend, because I can’t actually see any of them in person obviously. Thought this was appropriate, because right now I’m in quarantine as well as most of you (April 2020). Anyway, I am studying in this class in order to enhance my writing abilities, but my major is art. What is good about this class is that we study images and art instead of books, which is I guess more in my favor because I am an art major. In life though, my dream is to become an actress. But, I love art and have been working towards a career in art for a long time, so I chose this path. I do love art, and have worked at a museum, and since it is a passion of mine, I thought to major in it. I didn’t major in acting because I know jobs in that area are scarce and I’m scared of that. Nonetheless, I still act. I did Fresh Act first semester(a skit). I did bigger acting things in high school though, where I realized I had a talent in acting. That’s a lil about me concerning my passions, but lets get into my website here for Eng 170.
This website consists of work I did in English 170 with professor Clasby. Her class is structured around visuals, not books, so the works you’ll read on here are constructed specifically to her style. As a student in Clasby’s class, I have learned how to study images and how to research better. She helped me with my writing by making specific comments on drafts or having in depth discussions with me. Clasby is a great professor, even in an online course! To answer the wicked question of this class, we are studying the affects images have on a reader before and after we find out the context. To be more specific, the wicked question is, “How do we define visual power and its affect on our culture?” I wrote it in a more dumbed down sense before, but that is the actual question. Anyway, the assignments in this class revolve around the wicked question. We became Image Detectives throughout this course.
In the Habits of the Creative Mind tab, I have the two minute non-dominant hand drawing, the “Queen Reflections” which are reflections concerning a juxtaposition of a painting of Queen Elizabeth l and a photograph of Queen Elizabeth ll, and baby shoes.
The baby shoes one, which are my group’s representation of Ernest Hemingway’s, “Baby Shoes: For sale, Never worn.” We were able to tell any story about that line.
I have 2 pages called the Corona Chronicles. These posts contain blogs about our reactions to specifics relating to Covid-19.
The next few pages are all assignments that have stemmed from the studies about an image we were given:
Brief Assignment Two, which is my annotated bib for the Contextual Analysis.
Brief Assignment One, which is my compositional analysis, the study of the image before the research of it.
The major assignment is my contextual analysis, which is the research of the image after the study of just the image.
